GOVERNMENT FREE UNITS · DATED OFFICIAL EVIDENCE

The free-unit benefit depends on total consumption.

TNERC Order 5/2026, pages 1–4 implements Government Order (Ms) No.50: effective 10 May 2026, with provisional subsidy approved for the period through 31 March 2027.

Up to 500 kWh totalFirst 200 kWh free per two-month cycle. If you use fewer than 200 units, only the units actually consumed are free.
Above 500 kWh totalOnly the first 100 kWh free. The 101–200 units become chargeable too; the 200-unit benefit does not carry over.

For eligible domestic LT I-A services in the order; no cash credit or unused-unit carry-forward is assumed. Opt-out/ineligible services and mixed or prorated cycles are not supported.

Verified order content is not current eligibility verification. We have not established a complete current tariff/subsidy schedule or whether later directions modify these provisions. The calculator applies them only in its explicitly selected 10 May–30 June 2026 historical scenario, never as a guaranteed current entitlement.

YOUR CONSUMPTION

Calculate energy charges

Choose the historical illustration explicitly to explore the reviewed pre-July schedule. It is not a current bill estimate.

Total consumption for one normal two-month domestic cycle, not a monthly reading. Decimal values (up to 2 places) are an illustration, not a meter-rounding rule.

THE DETAIL THAT MATTERS

Crossing 500 changes earlier units, too.

In the reviewed May–June 2026 schedule, usage up to 500 kWh gets 200 free units. Above 500 kWh, only the first 100 are free; units 101–400 are payable at the higher-use rate. This is not one universal progressive table.

An energy illustration, not your payable account bill.

For standard domestic household LT I-A connections only. Excludes arrears, delayed-payment charges, deposits, meter adjustments, taxes, solar/net metering, common-area supply, commercial connections, subsidy opt-out or ineligible services, and mixed-rate or prorated billing periods. We do not infer these from units. Check your assessment and subsidy eligibility with TNPDCL.
